ABSTRACT

The evaluation of the PE programme for children with severe disabilities is in essence no different to the evaluation of any other PE programme. There are differences in the questions asked of the evaluation process, but the strategies and processes involved are universal within education. Curricula need to be designed, planned, implemented and evaluated. Evaluation is an important part of the total process of curriculum or programme management, as the process of evaluation ensures that the management of the curriculum remains open and dynamic. The process of evaluation allows for ongoing questioning on topics, such as why practices are employed; what methods of teaching are preferred; what aspects of the curriculum are problematic and so on. As a result of evaluation, teachers can re-visit their original plans and reformulate their objectives and strategies.
