ABSTRACT
A class is composed of a variety of individual pupils who may differ according to a number of characteristics, for example ability, attainment, age, gender, ethnicity and personality. This makes it very difficult – or impossible – to generalise about classes as a whole. The varying composition of classes has to be carefully considered when proposing classroom management strategies or interventions.
