ABSTRACT

For IEPs to be developed effectively they have to be seen as ‘worthy of the effort’ by all involved. It is important for schools to be aware of the criticisms of IEPs and to be convinced of their need.

Could it be that IEPs are ‘on their way out’?

How can the needs of the ‘difficult to teach or vulnerable’ be met to everyone’s satisfaction if IEPs are no longer required?

Will these children vanish from the mainstream? If so will their ‘normally expressive’ parents be silenced?

Could this be another case for the X files…?
