ABSTRACT

The concepts of safety planning and disaster planning are nothing new. At its simplest level we all follow the Highway Code to ensure that when we are driving from A to B we are not involved in an accident. Following the Highway Code is a sensible safety measure. If we go out for a walk on a summer’s day on the fells in the Lake District we would be well advised to wear stout shoes, to take a map and compass and to take additional clothing in case the weather changes for the worse. Again, these are sensible safety precautions.
