ABSTRACT
Hopefully disasters and accidents on trips and excursions will only rarely occur. Accidents and problems are not always in the hands of teaching staff, however, and colleagues taking pupils and students on trips, whether on a short local visit or on a longer expedition, must themselves be fully prepared to deal with the unexpected and the tragic. It is up to the school or college to ensure that leaders are properly briefed and have sufficient instructions.
