ABSTRACT

The pliable materials, plasticine, play-dough, papier mâché and mod-roc (plaster impregnated bandage), dealt with in this chapter have many features in common with, but provide no substitute for clay, which has its own chapter. Newspaper has been included along with papier mâché. Distinctions between this and chapters on sculpture, clay and collage are blurred, since a combination of techniques is often appropriate.
