Warm-up phase

• prepared stick-on labels of famous people

The teacher has a prepared selection of the names of famous people (which the pupils are likely to know) written on stick-on labels, e.g. pop stars, film stars, well-known historical figures, television figures (these can include cartoon figures, e.g. Bart Simpson). The teacher sticks a label on to the back of each pupil and the participants circulate and question one another about their 'names' until they guess who they are. If there are a few left at the end who are having difficulty discovering who they are the teacher can call the class to order and the other pupils can offer them clues as to their identity.
