ABSTRACT

Computers have been around for a long time but it is only recently that they have really begun to make an impact on school life. The computer in the corner of the classroom has usually been considered an ‘add on’ and sometimes even a hindrance to teaching and learning. Only during the last few years has the computer really come into its own as an agent for teaching and learning. With the Internet-ready computer, the teacher and children have available to them an infinitely versatile tool that can be used for gathering information on a worldwide basis in addition to being an extremely powerful communication device.
