ABSTRACT

Throughout this book it is assumed that you will be working with a small group of children, either with the computer or with some other piece of ICT equipment. As quite a few teachers and other adults lack confidence when working with computers, it is doubly important that you plan and familiarise yourself with the ICT activities before working with the children:

you must know the purpose (outcome) of the activity. Many ICT activities can be used to meet a variety of different outcomes;

you must try out the activity beforehand. This will enable you to anticipate any problems with the equipment or the software. Make sure that you try out all the steps that the children will go through to achieve the outcomes;

you will have considered the questions that you are going to ask the children and the vocabulary that you will use. Use the correct ICT terminology wherever possible.
