ABSTRACT

Individual Education Plans (IEPs) have been one of the key requirements of the Code since its inception. They have a number of special features, and require the provision of particular information. They replace similar documentation used in the past and are intended to be ‘live’ documents, to be used in planning, implementation and review of learning programmes. Their format will vary from one authority to another and indeed from school to school. However, the essential requirements are that the IEP should be short and crisp and be directly used to address children’s difficulties in learning.
