ABSTRACT
A useful way to distinguish between organising and managing is to view the former in terms of events prior to the lesson, and the latter as strategies used during the lesson, though it must be noted that there is always some organisation necessary following the main lesson (clearing-up, returning items, etc.). Thus:
Organising - Planning the lesson, making resources, collating work sheets, drawing up groups, repositioning furniture, leaving the room in good order. Managing - Steering the lesson, guiding children in their work, offering support, maintaining order, asking and answering questions, assessing work outcomes.
