ABSTRACT
Assessment, recording and reporting are an integral part of any good teacher’s repertoire of professional practice. Newly qualified teachers will find assessment takes place informally through their expertise, observational skills and intuition. These initial impressions are then confirmed or modified by a variety of school-based measures and external tests and examinations. Finally, the accumulated evidence of pupils’ attainments is recorded and reported to parents.
