ABSTRACT

While it is obvious that all human beings are unique individuals, it is also true that certain traits common to large numbers of people make it possible to group similar individuals together and predict their behaviour. Social scientists have studied common traits and the predictability of behaviour in order to classify people according to personality, social class, cultural group and so on. It is now generally felt that the behaviour we observe in individuals is a product of genetic make-up, social learning, and the contexts in which individuals operate. This is as true for managers as it is for any other social group.
