ABSTRACT

This chapter provides three individual perspectives on the development of a Parent Partnership Scheme in the South West of England, from an LEA, GEST-funded project to one which is now freestanding of an LEA but able to work closely with a number of LEAs. It provides an account of the challenges and changes which the original Parent Partnership Project in Devon faced following the ending of GEST funding in 1997, local government reorganisation (April 1998) and the reintroduction of funding for such schemes through Standards Fund in support of the Programme of Action (DfEE 1998). It focuses on the current structure and organisation of the scheme using one LEA as a specific example of good practice.
