ABSTRACT

Working with other agencies is an integral part of supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) and their parents. This cooperative approach also provides valuable support to the practitioner, who can benefit from access to information and records that focus on a different aspect of the child's development. The practitioner can also benefit from advice and suggestions about the management of special educational needs, such as different teaching strategies, curriculum materials and teaching-room management. The revised Code of Practice stresses the importance of all agencies involved with the child, including the parents, to cooperate closely and ensure a seamless service and provision. Liaison on a regular and open basis reduces the risk of misunderstandings and errors occurring and leads to a better quality of provision.
