ABSTRACT

For all Early Years settings which receive funding from the government, there is an obligation to write and publish a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy which has regard to the Code of Practice. Other Early Years settings, both private and non-maintained, and registered childminding networks, may also wish to draw up and publish their SEN Policy. This would help staff within the setting to focus on their practice and arrangements for including children who have special educational needs. It also gives parents the reassurance that the setting is taking its responsibilities seriously.
