ABSTRACT
The government's Excellence in Cities initiative uses the term ‘Gifted and Talented’ to describe the group of pupils for whom schools are expected to make additional provision. Procedures are set out for identifying the pupils who should qualify for inclusion in the Gifted and Talented programme. All the related documents, as well as DfES and Ofsted documentation, now use Gifted and Talented as the standard terminology.
