ABSTRACT
To be an efficient mathematician, it is important to develop mental arithmetic skills. Many children have difficulties remembering facts and using them. For the child with mathematical difficulties the temptation is to restrict the curriculum. Thus, many children continue to use concrete materials, with little time spent on developing mental arithmetic.
