ABSTRACT
For adults who doubt that children have much to say, publishing is a way of revealing that they do and that their perspective is different from that of those who normally write for them. Publishing is a logical extension of many of the projects in this book and can even be the end point of research — the goal being to raise the awareness of others to action 1 Young people's journalism is particularly valuable for turning the tables on the tendencies towards tokenism with Children's participation. For children to appear with a microphone, tape recorder, or video camera at a conference, for example, is a very different expression of Children's role in society than when they are simply allowed to speak for a few minutes, in the maner of an entertainment break, within the serious discourses of the adults.
