ABSTRACT

Part II details five areas of organisational capacity that an individual NGDO and the NGDO community require to be effective. This chapter describes how existing levels of capacity can be reoriented and improved through a process called organisational development (OD). In addition, NGDOs are expected to help build the capacity of civil society, which is a wider goal calling for processes of institutional development (ID). This chapter explores how to do both so that capacity growth becomes a new way of life.
