ABSTRACT

Summary: In the mangrove forests of Tanzania’s river deltas, poverty and isolation drive degradation of the local natural resources. Persistent conflicts among government policies, failure to enforce environmental laws and centralization of decision-making about resource management aggravate the impacts of poverty. Research team: The research team was composed of the team leader and overall research coordinator Dr K A Kulindwa, Dr H Sosovele (sociologist) and Dr Y D Mgaya (marine biologist). Mr A S Kapele, Ms Merenciana Taratibu, Mr Mathew Mwamsamali, Mr Jonathan Kabigumila and Mr Henry Ndangalasi (University of Dar es Salaam) were assistants https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781315071688/121228f9-6d36-4e6a-810d-d7cef247a294/content/fig14_0_C.jpg" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
