ABSTRACT
The historian J.L. Talmon traced the development of totalitarian democracy back to the intellectual explosion of the French Revolution, and followed its ramifications since then. Although he did not deal specifically with Asia, his assumption was that totalitarian democracy could develop only in those countries which shared the heritage of the French Revolution. 1
