ABSTRACT
Although the existence of conflicts is universal, the nature of conflicts and the way in which they tend to be resolved differ from one society to another. As Japan developed a political tradition that was in many ways different from those of other nations, the way in which the Japanese have viewed their conflicts and the strategies that they have employed to resolve them are also different from those of other societies.
