ABSTRACT
The release of the Japanese terrorist Okamoto Kozo from an Israeli jail in May 1985 together with 1,150 other prisoners — mostly Palestinians, — in exchange for three Israeli soldiers captured during the Lebanon War, drew world attention to the long-standing relations between Japan and Israel.
