ABSTRACT
The implementation of energy-saving strategies in all categories of buildings — residential, offices, shopping centres, hospitals or schools, either new or existing — in an urban environment appears to be a serious problem, the solution of which demands careful management. This difficulty is caused by the current condition of the urban fabric of cities, with respect to their planning and their frequently chaotic expansion, which has taken place without taking into account the principles of energy-conscious design on an urban scale.
