On the northern half of the Syrian coastline; in the heart of the Fertile Crescent, bounded in the north by the Jebel al-Lukkam and in the east by the Djebel Ansariye; some 320 kilometers north of Damascus; between Turkey, 50 kilometers to the north, and Lebanon, 110 kilometers to the south.
