ABSTRACT

The application of wind energy has grown rapidly in Germany within the past ten years. Starting in 1989 with only few wind turbines with merely ten Megawatts in stalled capacity, the total capacity of 6,200 turbines in ground in Germany reaches the 2.9 GW level at the end of 1998. Research and funding programmes and particularly the Electricity Feed Law (EFL) as a minimum price control for regeneratively produced power have contributed con siderably to this successful development.
