ABSTRACT
Water-based solar heating is the dominant application of solar energy in Europe. Ever since the oil crises of the 1970s there has been intensive research in the field, and as a result a wide range of technologies is available today. There are both more and less well-established solar heating systems for different areas of use and target groups – everything from small domestic hot water (DHW) systems to large-scale solar heating plants for use in district heating.
