ABSTRACT
The trombone participated more in choral music than in any other medium in the eighteenth century. The vast majority of trombone parts was written for the church. In addition, three of Handel’s oratorios, Israel in Egypt, Saul, and Samson, use the trombone. Most of this music has not yet been published; much probably remains undiscovered.
