ABSTRACT

The coordinating unit is an organization or organizational unit which exists for the sole (or major) purpose of coordinating decisions and actions in the relevant interorganizational system. It has greater organizational autonomy than the interorganizational group: generally the coordinating unit will have its own identity and enjoy "ecological autonomy" in the form of a distinct location and its own offices. It will have its separate operational budget, if not control over other funds, and is staffed by its own personnel.
