ABSTRACT

The geographical situation of the Iberian Peninsula is privileged. There is contrast of landscape and of climate and a diversity of races, so Spain possesses a folklore that is one of the richest in the world. Regional costumes represent all the lines, shades, forms, and colors of ancient apparel in a profusion of infinite mixtures of cultures. The differences between some Spanish costumes are so distinct that they appear to be of different nations, when in truth they may come from districts separated by only a few kilometers of easy walking distance. There are many religious dances in Spain for which particular costumes are worn. The one of Cordoba belongs to the village of Fuente Toja, and consists of a colored skirt and white blouse decked with ribbons. The notable feature of this outfit is the large hat covered with flowers. All dress is a product of ostentation; every phase of existence and every act of life requires distinct attire.
