ABSTRACT

The Inner rhythm is an integral part of dance, teacher try to enhance understanding and experience of it in every part of a class or workshop except sometimes the creative session. This chapter discusses on the class or workshop, warm-up exercises are always undertaken in a rhythmic way, allocating the same number of counts to each exercise before moving on to the next, but leaving one or two counts at the end of each section to allow for the children to realize that a different movement is coming. It can sometimes be easier to communicate a complicated rhythm by asking the children to sit and clap it before trying to dance it, and if large movements are used and the arms and whole torso are involved, the pulse and rhythm can quickly be experienced and understood. Sometimes children who are deaf or hard of hearing find it difficult to see and copy a beaten rhythm.
