ABSTRACT
“Working with nature” is based upon an understanding of the many interactions that occur in nature, and using these interactions wherever possible to replace technological functions such as mechanical weeding, chemical pest control, and inorganic fertilization. There are two approaches to understanding the relationship between how nature functions, and how humans can take advantage of these functions for their resource systems — the bottoms-up approach and the top-down approach.
