“Self-Hatred”

Since the 1980s there has been a growing number of plays in the Israeli theatre which focus on the conflict between secular and religious Jews. These theatre texts reveal the enduring nature of the negative religious stereotypes among sectors of the secular population and attest to the attitude termed by Baruch Kurzweil as “self-hatred”. ¹
