ABSTRACT
Outside Berlin the Volksbühne idea quickly aroused practical interest. As early as 1892 a Committee for Popular Lectures, founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1890, successfully demanded cheap performances at the municipal theatre. Much later, from 1908, this committee arranged closed performances on Volksbühne lines.
