ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book examines the issue of agricultural leadership focusing on the gains made by women and the barriers to their access. The motivation for writing this book has come from the writer's involvement over the last ten years with the remarkable activist women working for a greater leadership role and increased visibility for Australian women in agriculture. The book has been written, for Australian women in agriculture, their passion, for their vision and for their commitment. With this in mind, the writer has set out to establish what are the issues that prevent women from achieving powerful positions where their vision can be realized. The book examines the absence of women from agricultural leadership. The dominance of white anglo women in agriculture is evident in the contents of and the perspectives of this book.
