ABSTRACT

This chapter begins a transition from a description of the community experiment to its evaluation. It presents a comparison of the community adjustment of the lodge members with their matched controls who, when released from the hospital, participated in traditional community mental health programs such as outpatient treatment (p. 30). At the outset of the experiment, several hypotheses were advanced which predicted that patients who participated in the lodge program would make a more adequate community adjustment than those who did not (p. 28).
