ABSTRACT
Although the light saturation for a single leaf occurs at a radiation far short of full sunlight, the arrangement of leaf blades and stems in the field is such that a considerable part of the inner portion of the plant community is short of light. Understanding the relationship between radiation and crop production requires a knowledge of radiation distribution within the canopy based on the transmissibility of the leaf, leaf arrangement and inclination, plant density and height, and the sun’s angle.
