ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents a summary account of the culture that the people of the United States have inherited from Britain. It discusses the ways in which British culture is central to American society. The book points out the British legacy to the culture of America, is meant as a contribution to that cultural invigoration. Cultural disintegration presents when two or more strata so separate that these become in effect distinct cultures, and also when culture at the upper group level breaks into fragments each of which represents one cultural activity alone. Much in American education requires improvement. Indeed oppression exists in the typical curriculum; but it is the tyranny of Giant Dullness, not the despotism of White Capitalistic Exploitation.
