ABSTRACT

Chairman HARING: One word on why this Conference has been a success, a judgment which I do not have to belabor at all. I have heard it informally, outside the Conference, all through the weekend. It is that, unlike many conferences, this one did not consist of the production of a series of scholarly papers all typed and neat about which the author knew everything and nobody else knew much. This has been, as we have said, a brainstorming session, and this is the secret of the whole thing, and a great credit to the committee that set. It up in this fashion. Everybody has said unanimously, “I’ve learned an awful lot.”
