ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the case study of Carol. Carol brought an almost overwhelming mixture of feelings to her ritual. At the time of the interview she was still living with uncertainty, unsure of her future direction, but wanting to reaffirm her call to ministry in some form. She wanted to recognize the many good things about her time in ministry up to that point, and the friends she had made, and was thankful for them, but was also conscious that she had struggled with strong personalities. She still felt conscious of her calling but very uncertain of the direction it should take, and although she had chosen to leave her present appointment and move to another city, she was scared of feeling isolated and of not finding opportunities for future ministry. She hoped that the ritual would 'put to rest some things and open up others'.
