ABSTRACT
THE inhabitants of northern lands, which cover a very broad stretch of the earth, have at their disposal a system for ascertaining future events, derived especially from the characteristics of land- and water- birds, so that like augurs they can foretell what is to happen through their posture, movement, flight, calls, and chattering.
