ABSTRACT

NOW, what has been said about the restoration of good, honourable personages to the Church, or giving them authority in it, together with the return of goods snatched from them, has a very great compulsion attached to it. 1 Inasmuch as they are men who constantly pray to the Lord for the people’s safety, then peace and amity and abundance of everything will all return alike through their presence. There will be no need to fear the dissensions of royal brothers or of noble sons, when such mediators are nearby with the desire and ability to encourage them in pleasant agreement, so that they do not tear each other to pieces like beasts encountering one another in the wilderness, as is already threatening to happen in the northern kingdoms.
