On mines and how they are discovered

THE mines in northern lands are very numerous, big, varied, and rich. Because huge numbers of them are sited in valleys and mountains, many of the tunnels often follow closely adjacent courses. They are large, too, being inexhaustible and spacious, and are found both in Upper Sweden and in Gotaland, and in the parts of Varmland near the Norwegian borders.
