THE besiegers, in their turn, not wishing to be left with none of their talents or artifices employed, as though ignorant of how to wage war, resort to cunning ruses, so that, even if they cannot conquer their adversaries by force of arms, they may bring them into a state of mutiny and easily gain victory over them.1
