ABSTRACT

WHEN squadrons of cavalry and infantry, Russian, Danish, or German, or those of domestic enemies, threaten Göotar and Swedes with fighting on ice, the attackers spend time in fortifying bases in mountain ravines and narrow valleys, so that they can bring force to bear and from them make raids on the population. In their turn the local people gather under arms for their own defence and, so as not to allow their opponents the smallest period of time or space of ground for spreading out, they make use of any suitable cunning and strength they possess.
