On transporting cannon and cannonballs, and how to shoot arrows

THIS picture shows quite clearly what skill and cunning the northern peoples normally exert when they have been wrongfully harassed and, undaunted, bring their foes to action, whether in the plains or on ice. Here one sees sledges (as the vehicles they use for winter, or for the ice, are called), that are quite long, and curved upwards and pointed at the front to give greater manoeuvrability and speed.¹
