ABSTRACT

THE force of the wind on the shores of Germany opposite the northern kingdoms is so huge that, as the waves crash unceasingly in their flood and ebb, it breaks up and tears apart, as if they were tow, the stoutest embankments built from logs and stones, which are meant to be like impenetrable walls resembling mountains. The gale drags them with it into the deep and sinks them, leaving no trace behind of such a huge, solid structure.
