ABSTRACT

CARGO-BEARING rafts, yawls, wherries, rowing-boats, barges,1 and craft of many kinds which in spring and summer ply on the rivers in northern countries to carry corn and fruit to the trading ports are brought together in the picture here. These are considered of great use and profit to traders, chiefly in Gdansk, a city of abundant wealth which lies on the shore of the Baltic Sea in the duchy of Prussia and is under the sway of the king of Poland.2
