WOOLLEN and linen thread for weaving are the business of the wonderfully adept northern women, except those among the Lapps, who join fabrics with the sinews of animals, as I have said elsewhere,1and make suitable clothing from the pelts of different creatures, for flax does not grow in that far-off land, nor are sheep reared there.
